Yes, at this time, there is no charge for the modem. The modem includes one in-line filter and the Broadband Internet-ON software package. Additional in-line filters are available to purchase.

Broadband Internet operates in a higher frequency than normal phone conversations so you must have filters to prevent those higher frequencies from interrupting your telephone conversation. Filters are needed for every phone in the home or business.

Having an "always on" connection to the Internet raises a few security issues. The Internet is not a secure system. Customers are responsible for the protection of their account and data. Firewall protection is not built in. Customers are responsible for software and hardware firewalls. Customers are responsible for protection from viruses and other harmful components.

There is no need to turn off your DSL modem. For security reasons, we recommend that you shut down your computer when not in use for extended periods of time.

The fine print:
Service not available in all areas. Actual speeds over Broadband Internet lines will vary depending on several factors including location of your home/business, computer performance and configuration, network or Internet congestion, web sites accessed and current phone line conditions. Speed of service, uninterrupted and error-free service is not guaranteed. Some customers may require professional installation, which is customer responsibility. Installation charge is $99.00. Installation charge is waived when customer commits to retain service for a minimum 12 month period.
